What makes Macquarie a true North Sea Farmer?
Macquarie Group is a diversified financial group providing clients with asset management and finance, banking, advisory and risk and capital solutions across debt, equity, and commodities.
As the world’s largest infrastructure manager and a major global investor in renewable energy, Macquarie has established a strong presence in the offshore wind sector across project development, financing, construction, and operations. Through its managed funds, Macquarie is currently invested in seven offshore wind farms located in the North Sea.
Macquarie recognises the significant opportunity that exists to better utilise the large areas of sea in which its wind farms operate to support the growth of aquaculture. Macquarie joins the North Sea Farmers community having launched a feasibility study to explore the potential economic and environmental benefits at one of its wind farm investments in the region. Through its participation in the North Sea Farmers community, Macquarie hopes to better understand the challenges facing the sector and explore opportunities to partner with other specialists to help make seaweed farming commercially viable at scale.
