Seaweed is increasingly seen as a nature-based solution for climate change and as an essential part of other sustainable innovations. North Sea Farmers works on developing knowledge and experience on cultivation and developing markets both in food and non-food applications such as feed, fertilizers, biofuel, bioplastics and other biobased materials. As the European Seaweed Association NSF raises awareness, develops and improves access to research information and contributes to (inter)national policies and standards. NSF facilitates joint industry ambitions (roadmap) and projects and organises conferences and networking events, building on an active member network with actors from the entire value chain.

Who are we?

North Sea Farmers (NSF) is the European Seaweed Association for the seaweed industry in Europe. It has almost 130 members from all over the seaweed value chain. NSF represents the interests of the European seaweed industry on a non-profit basis with the ambition to build an attractive seaweed industry within sustainable boundary conditions.

Our mission and activities

Our mission is empowering the European Seaweed Industry via the following activities:

  • Represent the interests of European Seaweed Industry towards the European Commission, national and local politicy makers
  • Providing information to members, market parties, policy makers and society
  • Initiate high risk projects as evidence and learnings for the sector
  • Identify and establish attractive collaborations between members (network)
     

What do you bring to the table?

  • You are a fast learner and you have the ability toget to the essence of a topic,
  • You are knowledge driven, work fact-based and appreciate the value of joint efforts to try and solve complex challenges,
  • You have excellent academic writing skills (English) and you’re experienced in delivering high-quality reports in various formats,
  • It’s considered a clear benefit if you have knowledge of seaweed (or algae) and/or the seaweed industry but we also welcome new entrants into this exciting industry. In this context, affinity with (aquatic) ecology, biology, offshore, (agri)cultural production or seaweed is considered a pro,
  • Connecting and collaborating with stakeholders in projects or acquisitions comes naturally to you, and
  • You can work on both executive and managerial level. Both independently and with the team.

 

 

Your profile

  • You have relevant experience in relevant consultancy for at least 5 years,
  • You have an open mindset, are a critical thinker and are a constructive coalition builder,
  • You are comfortable to work with and coordinate consortia for project execution,
  • You have excellent language skills in word and writing in Dutch and English, and
  • You have an HBO or WO working and thinking level.
