10/10/2022 - SeaweedTech (SWT) is a Dutch start-up since 2020 that aims to cultivate seaweed indoor in land-based tanks. We believe in indoor local production of seaweeds which enables us to fully control cultivation.

Zoute Teelten in Yerseke 

28/09/2022 - At the beginning of October, we will go to Yerseke to visit the new logistics center of the Dutch Seaweed Group (DSG). DSG is setting up this center for the processing of sea vegetables as part of the “Zoute Teelten” project. Learn more about the project and the projectpartners here.

04/07/2022 - Last week, the UN Ocean Summit was held in Lisbon. As a follow up of the Climate Change COP held in Glasgow last year seaweed was put higher on the agenda than ever. Cultivation of seaweed across the planet is booming, more and more countries discover the potential of seaweed as nature-based solution for Climate Change.

The first North Sea Farmers’ Innovation Award granted at Seagriculture 2022

04/07/2022 - The eleventh edition of Seagriculture EU took place on the 29-30 June in Bremerhaven, organized by DLG Benelux. After two years online, it was the first time since 2019 that people could meet in person once again at the International Seaweed conference. North Sea Farmers was very pleased to support the Innovation Award.

Successful seaweed harvest operation on the North Sea

27/06/2022 - The Wier&Wind project has successfully completed the first automated harvesting operation on its seaweed pilot installation on the North Sea. Succesfully bringing all pieces of the puzzle together into a functioning production system is an important milestone for the Wier&Wind project but also for the European seaweed sector. This pilot proves that sustainable seaweed cultivated can be successful in offshore conditions.

23/05/2022 - Origin by Ocean, founded in 2019, is a platform-based algae refining company. Our patented biorefining process makes it possible to extract valuable bio-based chemicals from harvested invasive algae and ecologically farmed seaweed. The organic algae-based products can substitute conventional chemical ingredients in food & beverage, cosmetics, hygiene, textiles and many other goods and materials.
